Oscilloscope

This project is a photorealistic tribute to the origins of video gaming, inspired by William Higinbotham’s pioneering oscilloscope-based game from the 1950s. The goal was to recreate the essence and aesthetic of early electronic displays while pushing for realism in materials, lighting, and detail.

Using Maya, Substance Painter and Marmoset Toolbag, I meticulously modeled and textured the oscilloscope, paying close attention to the reflective surfaces, aged materials, and subtle wear that evoke a sense of authenticity. Lighting was carefully crafted to highlight the glow and curvature of the cathode ray tube, capturing the nostalgic ambiance of vintage technology.

This project allowed me to explore photorealistic rendering techniques while honoring a foundational moment in gaming history. It deepened my understanding of material realism, lighting dynamics, and the storytelling potential of environmental props.
